MACHIAS — The Maine State Police investigated a report of as many as 60 people fighting in front of a Machias bar Sunday but everyone denied the event once troopers were on scene.
Sgt. Jeff Ingemi, Cpl. Micah Perkins and Trooper Keith York checked about 20 people for bail conditions and warrants but found none.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Baileyville Police Department and Machias Police Department assisted.
Meanwhile, an hour later, there was a report of seven people fighting on Armstrong Lane near the East Machias town line, police said.
Ingemi and York responded and again everyone present denied that there had been a fight.
Five of the people had been at the previous incident. Troopers warned those five about disorderly conduct. Two others were transported to their homes.
Ingemi arrested Brian Denbow, 28, of Perry on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant and operating after suspension after a traffic stop in Marshfield Saturday.
Trooper Miles Carpenter responded to a vehicle off the road in Trescott Sept. 26. As a result of further investigation Carpenter arrested Courtney Stevens, 30, of Lubec on a charge of OUI.
