Maine State Police: Man Charged With Filing False Report



ELLSWORTH — A Hancock man crashed his vehicle on Washington Junction Road in Hancock Friday then left the scene and called police to report the vehicle had been stolen, police reported.

Sgt. Alden Bustard later met with the motorist, who admitted that his vehicle had not been stolen and that he had been driving, police said.

Justin Gross, 30, was summoned on charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, false public report and unlawful drug possession.

Theft

Three kayaks are missing from a Sorrento residence and a coin collection is missing from a Blue Hill residence.

Arrests and Summonses

Christopher Briggs, 45, Sullivan, violating conditions of release and criminal trespass.

Jesse Buggy, 25, Franklin, operating after suspension, failure to stop for an officer and operating an all-terrain vehicle on a public way.

Stacy Grindle, 38, Orland, warrant failure to appear.
