ELLSWORTH — The Maine State Police arrested one allegedly impaired motorist over the weekend.
Trooper Caleb McGary charged Jeffrey Ashey, 52, of Orland with one count of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant after responding to a traffic complaint in Castine Sunday.
Trooper Owen Reed assisted.
McGary arrested Micah Ryan, 27, of Ludlow on a warrant after a traffic stop in Dedham Sept. 12.
Ryan had been a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped, police said. McGary summoned Ryan on charges of possession of scheduled drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating conditions of his release.
Trooper Dana Austin assisted.
Reed summoned Kia Casey, 18, of Ellsworth on a charge of assault Sept. 11 after an incident in Blue Hill.
Cpl. Dan Ryan summoned Thomas Simmons, 47, of Sedgwick on a charge of speeding — 106 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone — on Route 15 in Sedgwick Friday.
Trooper Gavin Endre summoned Shelly Perry, 48, of Oregon on a charge of operating without a license Saturday on Main Street in Bucksport.
Traffic was snarled on Route 3 just north of the Trenton Bridge Sept. 5 after a three-vehicle crash, which resulted in minor injuries for those involved, the Maine State Police reported.
Trooper Caleb McGary said a car rear-ended a sport utility vehicle, which was pushed into the southbound lane where it struck another SUV, which was “launched from the impact and rolled,” before coming to rest. The crash occurred at 1 p.m.
Steven Lyman, 70, of Southwest Harbor was driving a Saab, which rear-ended a Toyota SUV operated by Tracy Siglin, 60, of Pennsylvania, McGary said. The force pushed the Toyota SUV into the southbound lane, where it collided with a Toyota Highlander operated by Zachary Huckel-Bauer, 31, of Blue Hill.
Huckel-Bauer’s vehicle rolled and came to rest in the southbound lane, the trooper said.
Siglin had his parents in the SUV, James and Margaret Siglin, 88 and 86, respectively, also of Pennsylvania, McGary said. Huckel-Bauer’s fiancée, Christa Wroblewski, 32, of Blue Hill, was a passenger in his vehicle.
“All involved reported complaints of pain and minor injuries and were transported to Mount Desert Island Hospital,” McGary said. “Route 3 was reduced to a one lane road for about two hours.”
There was no word on damage estimates for the vehicles involved.
