Two young men were injured on Route 166 in Orland Sept. 25 after their car crashed into a tree, the Maine State Police reported.
Trooper Gregory Ramp said the crash occurred when the car crested a hill, lost control and went off the road, hitting the tree.
Riley Jorgenson, 20, of Vienna, Va., was driving a 2011 Honda Civic, Ramp said.
Jorgenson, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center to be checked for possible injuries.
A passenger, Cole McDaniel, 20, of Eliot, suffered a head injury. McDaniel was taken by ambulance to Northern Light EMMC, Ramp said. McDaniel also was wearing his seat belt.
Both men were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
“Speed appears to be the primary contributing factor to the crash,” Ramp said. “There are no indications that alcohol was a contributing factor.”
The Orland Fire Department, Bucksport Fire/Ambulance and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department assisted. Deputy Jacob Day reconstructed the crash.
Ramp is continuing to investigate the crash. Information can be provided to the trooper at 973-3700.
