Maine State Police Log Week of Oct. 11

ELLSWORTH — The Maine State Police charged motorists with multiple offenses recently.

Trooper Caleb McGary summoned a Maryland man who was allegedly going nearly twice the posted speed and making bad passes in Holden Sept. 25.

McGary charged Demitri Pappas, 28, on charges of criminal speed and driving to endanger.

“Pappas was making bad passes and going 86 mph in a 45-mph zone while putting other motorists in danger with his reckless operation,” McGary said.

A traffic stop on Washington Junction Road in Hancock Sept. 26 led to arrest for both driver and passenger.

Trooper Dana Austin arrested Kurtis Johnson, 38, of Machiasport on a charge of operating after suspension. Austin also charged Johnson with sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Austin summoned a passenger in the vehicle, Leanza Boney, 21, of Bronx, N.Y., on a charge of probation violation.

Cpl. Chris Smith and Trooper Gavin Endre assisted Austin as well as Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies.

A stop on Route 1 in Hancock Sept. 27 led to charges for another motorist.

Austin summoned Ronald Brown, 61, of Sullivan on a charge of operating after suspension. Smith assisted.


Smith is investigating a report of a Stihl Backpack Blower that was taken from a Sullivan property.

Trooper Owen Reed is investigating a theft in Stonington in which a donation tube was damaged and money possibly taken. The theft was reported Sept. 28.
