Maine State Police Log Week of Nov. 8

ELLSWORTH — Two times isn’t the charm for speeding.

A driver was arrested on a speeding charge after dashing away from an initial stop on Oct. 29 on the Eastbrook Road in Eastbrook.

Trooper Travis Chapman stopped Terrance Davis, 56, for driving 78 miles an hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone and issued Davis a summons for speeding.

“Immediately after being released from the traffic stop, Terrance then accelerated his vehicle to 84 miles per hour,” Chapman said.

The trooper tried unsuccessfully to stop Davis a second time but found him later at his residence.

Chapman arrested Davis on a charge of speeding 30 miles or more over the posted speed limit.

Impaired driving

Trooper Caleb McGary arrested Patrick Jordan, 35, of Waltham on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant after a traffic stop in Ellsworth Friday. Detective Greg Roy and Trooper Owen Reed assisted.

More arrests

Troopers Gavin Endre and Dana Austin went to an Orland residence Nov. 1 after getting a complaint about a fight.

As a result, troopers arrested Dylan Eldridge, 32, of Orland on charges of violating conditions of his release and operating beyond his license restrictions.

Reed arrested Nathaniel Eaton, 25, of Blue Hill on a charge of violating conditions of his release Nov. 1 after troopers conducted a check at Eaton’s home to ensure he was complying with his bail conditions.

Property crimes

In other business, troopers were busy last weekend with a camp break-in, a motor vehicle theft and a theft of copper wire.

Trooper Shanna Beaudoin handled the vehicle theft, which occurred in Verona Island Sunday.

Beaudoin said the vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys in it.


Beaudoin is investigating a burglary at a Dedham camp that was reported Sunday. Several household items were taken.


A theft of copper wire at a Hancock residence was reported Saturday. There was no forced entry. Beaudoin is investigating.

Criminal mischief

Beaudoin is investigating a complaint in Sorrento about a door that was damaged during the overnight hours Saturday.


In Deer Isle Sunday, Chapman summoned Ernest Ortiz, 37, of Deer Isle on a charge of operating after suspension.

Chapman summoned Melanie Joyce, 50, of Deer Isle on a charge of operating after suspension Saturday on the Ellsworth Road in Surry.
