Maine State Police Log Week of June 6



ELLSWORTH — Maine State Police Trooper Dana Austin issued numerous charges to drivers after stops in Otis, Ellsworth and Dedham and a disabled vehicle check in Orland Friday.

The trooper’s disabled vehicle check in Orland led to an impaired operation charge.

Austin summoned Dale Hooper, 36, of Blue Hill on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Hooper was taken to the Bucksport Police Department, where a breath test was administered, police said. Trooper Owen Reed assisted.

Austin arrested Sherman Merchant, 34, of Otis on a charge of probation revocation after stopping Merchant on Route 180 in Ellsworth.

During the same stop, Austin summoned Jade Giger, 32, of Otis on a charge of permitting unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Troopers Gavin Endre and Joshua Lander assisted.

Austin stopped a motorcycle, which reportedly had been traveling 103 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone on Route 1A in Dedham.

Austin summoned Christopher Rowell, 45, of Orrington on a charge of exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 miles per hour or more.

Finally, Austin summoned Tiffany Lawonn, 31, of Otis on a charge of operating after suspension after stopping her vehicle on Route 180 in Otis. Lander assisted.

Reed summoned Chase Hawley, 28, of Orland on a charge of operating after suspension after a traffic stop in Blue Hill May 28.

Reed summoned Danielle Crockett, 29, of Sedgwick on a charge of operating after suspension in Deer Isle May 27.
