Maine State Police log week of Jan. 16



ELLSWORTH — A traffic stop on High Street in Ellsworth Saturday yielded a drug charge, the Maine State Police reported.

Trooper Dana Austin charged Gregory Gilley, 32, of Ellsworth with unlawful possession of fentanyl.

Also charged during the traffic stop was Kennedy Smith, 23, of Ellsworth on one count of violating conditions of release.

Cpl. Christopher Smith, Trooper Gavin Endre and the Ellsworth Police Department assisted with the traffic stop.

Hit-and-run

Cpl. Dan Ryan investigated a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store in Blue Hill Jan. 6, police reported. As a result of the investigation, Ryan summoned Ethelyn Swazey, 64, of Blue Hill on a charge of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Arrests

A traffic stop on Falls Court in Ellsworth Saturday yielded charges for the operator, police reported.

Endre arrested David Briggs, 37, of Ellsworth on two warrants. Briggs also was summoned on charges of operating after suspension and bail violation.

Summonses

Cody Jordan, 29, of Gouldsboro was summoned on a charge of operating after suspension Jan. 5 on the Asheville Road in Sullivan. Austin conducted the traffic stop and Endre assisted.

A stop for speeding on Route 9 in Aurora Saturday led to an alcohol charge.

Sgt. Timothy Varney summoned Caleb Curtis, 19, of Buxton on a charge of illegal transportation of liquor by a minor.

Speeding

Trooper Blaine Silk summoned Steffen Manheim, 55, of Mariaville on a charge of speeding 30 miles or more over the posted limit on the Mariaville Road in Ellsworth Jan. 6. Manheim was allegedly traveling 84 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone, police said.

Austin summoned Stacy Thayer, 48, of Bangor on a charge of speeding 30 miles or more over the posted limit on Route 1A in Dedham Jan. 8.
