Maine State Police Log Week of Aug. 16

ELLSWORTH — A passer-by pulled a Portland man from the wreckage of his vehicle just before it burst into flames on Caterpillar Hill Road in Sedgwick Saturday, the Maine State Police reported.

Samuel Scribner, 25, was driving an unknown vehicle, which went off the road and struck a tree, Trooper Travis Chapman said.

Chapman charged Scribner with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. Scribner had minor injuries, the trooper said.

Sgt. Tim Varney and the Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

Drug arrest

A Deer Isle woman was arrested on a charge of cocaine possession after a traffic stop in Blue Hill Sunday. Trooper Owen Reed summoned Baileigh Johnson, 20, on additional charges of transportation of liquor by a minor, speeding and failure to provide proof of insurance.


Varney summoned Ella Reilich Godino, 28, of Trenton on a charge of operating under the influence of an intoxicant after a traffic stop on Goose Cove Road in Trenton Aug. 6.

Varney summoned Luke Lebel, 23, of Portland on a charge of attaching false plates. Varney stopped Lebel on Route 9 in Aurora Aug. 5.

Varney summoned Chadd Blanchard, 35, of Surry on a charge of attaching false plates after he was stopped on the Goose Cove Road in Trenton Aug. 7.

Varney summoned Shaquille Fowler, 23, of Fitchburg, Mass., on a charge of operating without a license after he was stopped for speeding on Route 9 in Aurora Aug. 8.

Criminal mischief

Reed responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Brooklin Sunday in which a mailbox was damaged for the third time. The investigation is continuing.
