Mail Thefts Investigated

ELLSWORTH — A Bayside Road resident reported mail was stolen from a mailbox Dec. 21. Detective Dotty Small said she is investigating this and another case from the same area in which people mailed checks to pay their credit card bills, only to later find that their bills had not been paid.

Small said the checks were instead found to have been altered and used at a local business. Small said she is in the process of reviewing video footage from where the checks were used, and believes the person involved is a man.
