Machias Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

ELLSWORTH — A motorcyclist was injured in a Downeast Highway accident Thursday at 5 p.m.

According to the report, Thomas Garza, 24, of Machias was traveling east on his 2003 Honda motorcycle when the Buick in front of him merged into the middle turn lane. The Buick’s driver, George Gray, 45, of Blue Hill, had moved to avoid the car in front of him when traffic stopped abruptly.

Garza also was merging when his motorcycle’s brakes locked up. He laid the motorcycle down and it slid into the back of Gray’s vehicle.

Garza, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
