Illegal Plates Draw Bail Charge



BAR HARBOR — Brandon A. Pinkham, 29, of Bar Harbor, was summonsed Sunday on Ledgelawn Avenue on a charge of illegal attachment of license plates. Mr. Pinkham was arrested following the summons, on a charge of violating the conditions of his bail not to engage in criminal activity.

A dog struck by a vehicle on Cottage Street on Dec. 20 was taken to Acadia Veterinary Hospital.

Ethan Taylor, 20, of Tremont, was arrested Dec. 20 on Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear for a bench trial for an operating after suspension charge.

Steven Bailey, 53, of Mount Desert, was arrested Dec. 22 on Main Street on a charge of operating while under the influence (OUI).

Police assisted a dozen or so drivers who slid off roads or became stuck during a snowstorm on Dec. 23. Several accidents and cars off the road occurred during black ice conditions on the morning of Dec. 21.

A man was warned for disorderly conduct following a fight at the Thirsty Whale tavern on Cottage Street on Dec. 23.

Officer Jake Day gave a man a ride to an Old Bar Harbor Road residence early Saturday when he could not find an available taxi service. Officer Thom Tardiff gave a woman walking on Route 3 a ride into town on Christmas Day.

A Shannon Way resident reported Tuesday that someone had unplugged her outdoor Christmas lights overnight, removed them from the tree they were in, and left them on the lawn.

Police issued 13 warnings for speeding and other moving violations this week.

Mount Desert

A Sullivan woman was treated at Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor after complaining of leg, neck and back pain following a rear-end collision Dec. 21 in Somesville.

According to police, David Sargent, Jr., 45, of Trenton, was stopped in traffic at the intersection of routes 198 and 102 when his 2005 Chevrolet pickup was struck from behind by a 2006 Dodge driven by Mary Boucar, 49, of Sullivan. The Dodge is considered a total loss; damage to the truck is estimated at $2,000.

A Seal Harbor resident reported Saturday that her home had been hit with eggs, and graffiti was painted on her vehicle some time during the previous night.

Three people were summonsed Dec. 22 after they were spotted by harbormaster Shawn Murphy digging clams at Bartlett’s Landing in violation of town ordinance.

Summonses were issued to Hugh Pomeroy, 58, of Searsport and to Aaron Talgo, 34, and Jessica Hall, 30, both of Belfast.

The “suspicious” person entering an unoccupied home in Otter Creek on Dec. 21 turned out to be the oil burner serviceperson.

Southwest Harbor

Police assisted a resident who reported Christmas Day that his mother was acting “bizarre” and throwing things. No charges were filed.

Two loud explosions were heard Monday night near the Seawall Picnic Area. The source was not located.

The Southwest Harbor Fire Department assisted police Saturday in cleaning up after a water leak was discovered in the ceiling of the police chief’s office.

Tremont

A 28-foot extension ladder was reported stolen Friday from a home on the Tremont Road.

A 2009 Toyota pickup sustained $3,500 damage after the driver, Dean Ingalls, 24, of Southwest Harbor, lost control and the vehicle hit a utility pole Friday on the Tremont Road.

Trenton

Timothy Kane, 27, of Trenton was arrested Monday on a charge of violating his bail conditions following a bail check.
