Hancock County Sheriff’s Log Week of July 11

ELLSWORTH — A collision between a lobster boat and a personal vessel in Stonington Sunday resulted in a charge for one of the operators, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputy Dakota Dupuis summoned Brandon Murphy, 22, of Trenton on a charge of operating a watercraft while under the influence of an intoxicant.

More OUI

An accident on Morgan Bay Road in Surry Sunday evening led to arrest for a Pennsylvania motorist.

Deputy Dan Harlan arrested Frank Dyer, 24, on a charge of OUI.

Dyer was driving a 2007 Nissan pickup truck, which struck a utility pole, knocking a transformer onto the ground, Harlan said.

The Surry Fire Department had to shut down the roadway until crews from Emera could respond and fix the pole, Harlan said.

The truck sustained over $2,000 damage, the deputy said.

Sexual assault

A Bangor woman notified police July 4 about a sexual assault that may have occurred in Orland. Detective Franklin Jennings said an investigation is pending.

Assault

Harlan is investigating a fight between roommates that occurred in the wee hours Monday in Lamoine.

Harlan said Northern Light Medical Transport took one of the men to the hospital. The investigation is continuing.

Sleeping motorist

Dupuis and Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo were sent to a Hancock intersection Sunday for a report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a car.

Dupuis said the motorist was awake when they arrived and had fallen asleep at the stop sign.

The motorist passed field sobriety tests and was sent on his way.

Theft

Deputy Chris Sargent is investigating the theft of a vehicle from a Grant Road residence in Sullivan June 30. The vehicle was later recovered.

“A suspect is known and the investigation is ongoing at this time,” Sargent said.

Disorderly conduct

Dupuis warned a Hancock woman about disorderly conduct June 28 after the woman allegedly went to a neighbor’s property and tried to throw large rocks at their vehicles.

“The rocks were too big/heavy and she was not able to reach the vehicles,” Dupuis said.

The woman was upset because she thinks her neighbor is stealing money from her, the deputy said.

Mental health problem

Deputy Brian Archer checked on a suicidal woman at a Sullivan residence July 3. Archer said the woman agreed to go to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital for an evaluation.
