Deputy checks on grieving Gouldsboro resident

ELLSWORTH — On June 24, Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo checked on a Gouldsboro resident who had lost relatives during the past year. The check was done at the request of another family member who was concerned for the resident’s well-being.

“I met with the individual, and they advised that they were all set and obviously grieving the loss of their family members,” Grionfriddo said. “They were advised to reach out if they needed help.”

Accidents

A pickup truck lost traction, slid off the roadway then rolled onto its driver’s side after a motorist turned east from Washington Junction Road onto Route 1 in Hancock June 25, Deputy Luke Gross said.

Spencer Dyer, 17, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, which sustained a reportable amount of damage, Gross said. Dyer was not injured.

Wet road conditions and traveling over the speed limit contributed to a single-vehicle rollover crash near the intersection of Oak Point Road and Bayside Road in Trenton June 25, Deputy Dylan Hall reported.

Hall said the vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet, belongs to Shannon Fletcher, 44, of Ellsworth, however a youth was operating the vehicle with two juvenile passengers.

The vehicle had been northbound on Oak Point Road on a sharp corner when it started to hydroplane, at which point the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over. No injuries were reported but the Chevrolet had “disabling damage,” Hall said.

Assaults

Gross is investigating an altercation at the Hancock County Jail that was reported June 25.

Hall arrested an Otis woman after investigating an incident at an Otis residence Saturday. Sandra Low, 49, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault.

Special detail

Deputy Marcus Downes handled a traffic detail on Route 1A in Dedham and Ellsworth June 24. He stopped five vehicles for various violations.

Agency assists

Downes helped the Holden Police Department with searching a vehicle June 24.

Hall assisted first responders with a patient at a Hancock residence June 25.

Theft

Deputy Jeff McFarland is investigating a theft of a sign from a garage in Orland June 25.
