Hancock County Sheriff’s Log Week of Dec. 13

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office handled a number of collisions during the past week.

A sport utility vehicle and a sedan collided after the SUV’s driver failed to notice a stop sign at the intersection of School House Road and Old County Road in Orland Monday, Detective Franklin Jennings said.

Steven Holman, 64, of Michigan was driving east in a 2019 Ford Explorer, which entered the intersection without yielding the right of way to an oncoming 2016 Toyota Camry driven by Roderick Lord, 30, of Belfast, Jennings said.

No one was injured but both vehicles sustained reportable amounts of damage, the detective said.

A car had to be towed after it struck and killed a deer that had “jumped” into a travel lane of Tremont Road in Tremont Monday, Deputy Travis Frost reported.

Heather Davis, 43, of Bernard was operating a 2016 Honda Pilot, which sustained front-end damage, Frost said.

Snowy road conditions caused a car to slide off the travel way of Hinckley Ridge Road in Blue Hill Dec. 7, Frost said.

Laura Hale, 50, of Penobscot was driving a 2003 Honda Element, which had to be towed, Frost said. Hale was not injured.
