ELLSWORTH — Four area residents were arrested Aug. 22 as the result of an enforcement detail by the new, multi-agency Hancock County Violent Offender Task Force, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
- Dakota Eaton, 28, Blue Hill, probation violation.
- Calandra Fitzgerald, 37, Blue Hill, warrant charging theft.
- Brian Madore, 28, of Trenton, violation of conditions of release.
- Keith Madore, 54, Trenton, probation violation.
Several other individuals subject to conditions of release or probation were checked and found to be in compliance.
Deputies responded to a report of an out-of-control woman in Franklin Aug. 21. Upon arrival, they found that a tenant and property manager had been arguing over the tenant’s residence losing power.
The property manager was unable able to fix the issue and the property’s owner was advised.
Deputies and Ellsworth police assisted agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency with a vehicle stop on Surry Road in Ellsworth Aug. 21.
No injuries were reported in a three-vehicle accident Aug. 21 on the Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.
According to the report, Hartley Rogers was driving his 2017 Lexus sport utility vehicle northwest behind a 1999 Honda Civic operated by Ira Benowitz.
Benowitz was following Nicole Fronczak, who was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, which stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of the Bar Harbor Road and Jordan River Road. When the light turned green, Rogers drove forward and ran into the rear of Benowitz’s car, police said. The collision pushed Benowitz’s car forward into Fronczak’s vehicle.
Rogers’ SUV sustained over $1,000 in damage to the front end. There was over $3,000 in damage to the rear of Benowitz’s car. There was around $200 in damage to Fronczak’s car.
A teenage driver sideswiped several mailboxes in a Sedgwick subdivision Aug. 19, according to police. Three of the mailboxes were struck with the vehicle’s mirror, causing minor damage to the vehicle and mailboxes.
On Aug. 22, Deputy Travis Frost investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Blue Hill waterfront park. As a result, Joseph Spinazola, 21, of Castine was arrested on a charge of furnishing alcohol to juveniles. He was transported to Hancock County Jail.
Two underage companions were each summoned on a charge of possession of alcohol by consumption. They were released to their parents.
An Eastbrook resident reported Aug. 21 an ongoing dispute involving a right-of-way. Deputies determined that no crime had been committed.
An Ellsworth woman reported being approached at a Lamoine beach Aug. 21 by a man she did not know who was acting suspiciously.
Deputies located the man and warned him that “his actions were such that they could easily make people uneasy,” according to the report.
A Franklin man with dementia who was reported missing Aug. 21 was found safe at a friend’s home.
A bystander flagged down Deputy Frost Aug. 21 to report concerns about how a child was treated getting into a vehicle in Ellsworth Aug. 21.
The parent advised the child was misbehaving in the store and refusing to get into the vehicle. Frost determined the child was safe and everyone had calmed down.
An Orland man called to report harassing phone calls Aug. 19. He said that a Penobscot woman won’t stop calling him and asked that she be warned to stop.
Deputy Luke Gross is investigating a theft in Hancock that was reported Aug. 20.
Virginia Lanning, 69, of Castine was summoned on a charge of failing to stop for a police officer Aug. 16 on the Shore Road in Castine.
Deputy Travis Frost summoned Casey Spofford, 36, on charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle more than 150 days and an expired inspection sticker following a traffic stop in Stonington Aug. 23.
Dale Gray, 46, Orland, warrant charging violation of a protection from abuse order.
Lorrie Gray, 58, of Dedham was arrested on a Hancock Superior Court warrant for unpaid restitution after turning herself in at the Hancock County Jail.
On Aug. 20, Deputy Frost arrested Roderick Porter, 30, of Stonington on an active arrest warrant in Stonington. Porter was transported to Hancock County Jail without incident.
A 72-year-old Arizona woman called to request a well-being check on her 73-year-old husband Aug. 22. The husband called and reported that he was fine.
Deputy Michael Southard searched the area around an Amherst residence Aug. 21 after a caller reported seeing flashlights around the shoreline near her home.
Southard did not locate the source of the lights.
