Accidents

On Sunday on West Bay Road in Gouldsboro, a sport utility vehicle struck a plow truck that had broken down and was left in the middle of a roadway with no hazard lights on or traffic cones to alert motorists, Deputy Travis Frost reported.

Frost said Brandon Tracey, 28, of Gouldsboro was operating a 1989 Ford L9000 plow truck, which was struck by a 1995 Jeep Wrangler operated by Christopher Rogers, 34, of Bar Harbor.

Frost said Rogers had been traveling too fast for road conditions and the Jeep’s tires were “poor.”

“Rogers was wearing his seat belt and was not injured,” the deputy said.

There is no word on a damage estimate, but the Jeep had to be towed.

A car sideswiped a telephone pole after a motorist lost control on an icy roadway Sunday on Franklin Road in Hancock, Frost reported.

Isaiah Massay, 19, of Hancock was driving a 2000 Subaru Forester, which sustained front-end damage and had to be towed, Frost said. Massay was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

A car went off the road and got stuck in bushes when a motorist failed to negotiate a corner due to snowy road conditions on Cemetery Road in Stonington Saturday, Allen reported.

Eric Carlisle, 44, of Stonington was operating a 2008 Ford Fusion, which did not incur any damage, Allen said.

A westbound car collided with a sport utility vehicle that had turned left from the Washington Junction Road to head east on Route 1 in Hancock Dec. 6, Detective Frank Jennings reported.

Alexandra Makucewicz, 23, of Ellsworth and New York was operating a 2005 Ford, which collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Joshua Burhoe, 33, of Mariaville, Jennings said.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, Jennings said. Makucewicz was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A minivan struck a parked 2006 Sterling propane truck on Water Street in Blue Hill Dec. 6, Deputy Travis Frost reported.

Nancy Gebhardt, 41, of Massachusetts had tried to drive a 2011 Toyota minivan around the truck but hit the front end, Frost said.

Jeff Clement, 56, of Orland was operating the propane truck, which belongs to Dead River Co., Frost said. The vehicles had a reportable amount of damage, the deputy said.
