Hancock County Sheriff: Orland Woman Rescued from Her Dogs

ELLSWORTH — An Orland woman had to call deputies Friday afternoon after she was attacked by her dogs.

The Orland animal control officer, Robert Gross, and Deputies Chris Sargent, Luke Gross and Ben Astbury assisted.

Animal Control Officer Gross said the woman had put bones too close together for her two dogs and they fought. The dogs are a 12-year-old black Labrador and a “lab-mix.”

The woman had some injuries, Gross said. One of the dogs had to be taken to an emergency veterinary clinic in Brewer.

A car rolled onto its passenger side after going off the road, striking a mailbox, a tree and a telephone pole guide wire after negotiating a turn from Route 230 onto Route 3 Saturday, police reported.

The Trenton Fire Department had to extricate the motorist from the vehicle, said investigating officer Detective Alan Brown.

Sabrina Knight, 30, of Fletcher’s Landing Township, had been driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, which was a total loss, said Brown.

Knight’s primary complaint was pain to her back, Brown said. County Ambulance took her to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.
