Hancock County Sheriff: Motorcyclists Injured in Separate Accidents

ELLSWORTH — Two motorcyclists suffered possible broken bones during accidents this month.


A motorist failed to maintain control when he braked for traffic stopping in front of him on Route 3 in Trenton Sept. 9. The motorcycle crashed to the ground.

The operator, Markus Bock, 40, of Burlington, Vt., broke his right wrist, police said. Damage to his 2008 Suzuki was estimated at $1,000, police reported.

A motorcycle tumbled over after a motorcyclist lost control when braking to avoid an animal in the roadway on Eastside Road in Sorrento earlier this month, police said.

Michael Robbins, 19, of Sorrento was driving a 2001 Suzuki, which was a total loss, police said.

A car rolled several times after a motorist failed to negotiate a curve in the road and overcorrected on Route 166A near the Castine Grange Hall Saturday, police said.

Samuel West, 19, of Penobscot was driving a Toyota Tercel, which was a total loss, police said.

West suffered cuts, bruises and had chest pain. A deputy said the accident is under investigation and charges are pending.

A car went off the road and struck a telephone pole then came to rest against trees off Route 102 in Seal Cove Saturday, police said.

Deborah Suter, 52, of Seal Cove was driving north in a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, which was a total loss, Deputy Jeff Turcotte said.

Alcohol Offenses

The Hancock County Underage Drinking Task Force conducted a special detail in Castine Sept. 8.

The following were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor:

Paul Campbell, 20, of Camden, Samantha Pease, 20, of Warren, Lawrence Lastra, 20, of Rockland and Erik McMillan, 20, of Rockland. McMillan was also charged with probation violation.

The following were arrested on one count each of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol: Jacqueline Connell, 21, of Rockland and Amethyst Cousins, 21, of Bass Harbor.

Police arrested Sam Law, 21, of New Hampshire on a charge of furnishing liquor to a minor.

All the young people charged are Maine Maritime Academy students, police said.

James T. Farley, 23, Southwest Harbor, bail violation.

Colleen M. Higgins, 23, Otter Creek, OUI.

Michele W. Ray, 44, Milbridge, aggravated drug trafficking, criminal forfeiture.

Rosemary D. Pease, 56, Bangor, probation and parole hold.

Zachary R. Rand, 20, Southwest Harbor, violating conditions of release.

Adrienne A. Carter, 22, Trenton, trafficking in prison contraband, bail violation, failure to give correct name and address.

Ryan D. Morey, 22, Deer Isle, habitual motor vehicle offender.

Robin S. Sutherland, 47, Bar Harbor, burglary and theft.


Louann S. Robinson, 51, Gouldsboro, seven days for negotiating a worthless instrument.
