Hancock County Sheriff: Deputies Handle Several Accidents

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department handled several accidents during the past week that sent at least one motorist to the hospital.

The driver of a car turned left in front of another car, striking it nearly head-on Feb. 26 on Route 172 in Surry, Deputy Jeff Turcotte said.

Marcus Boechat, 46, of Brooklin had been driving a 1996 Saab, which struck a 2007 Honda that was traveling westbound and was being operated by Marjorie Peronto, 49, of Ellsworth, Turcotte said.

Peninsula Ambulance took Peronto to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible neck and back injuries.

Both vehicles were total losses, the deputy said.

A pickup truck struck a guardrail after its driver lost control on a slippery Route 9 in Aurora Saturday, police said.

Norman Clark, 65, of Baileyville, had been driving west in a 2006 GMC, which sustained front-end damage, police reported.

A vehicle went off the road and rolled after a motorist lost control on a slippery roadway on Route 3 in Trenton Sunday, police reported.

Daniel Hales, 17, of Bar Harbor had been driving south in a 2002 Honda, which sustained an estimated $7,500 in damage, police said.

The driver of a northbound pickup truck went into a southbound lane while negotiating a curve and struck a southbound car head-on Feb. 25 on Tunk Lake Road in Sullivan, Deputy Rob Morang said. Both vehicles were total losses, the officer said.

Aaron Robidoux, 18, of Sullivan had been driving a 1994 Ford Ranger, which struck a 1999 Pontiac operated by Victor Wilkinson, 23, of Augusta, Morang said.

Morang said Robidoux denied going into the oncoming lane but said he may have been close to the yellow line.

Morang summoned both operators on failure to provide evidence of insurance.
