ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Jennings checked on an alarm at a Deer Isle business in the early-morning hours Saturday, Nov. 19 only to discover the business had been burglarized. The incident is under investigation.
The Maine Warden Service is investigating an incident in which a bullet struck a Deer Isle residence Friday while someone was shooting nearby, Jennings reported.
A Fletchers Landing resident called police Nov. 15 to report a woman who had been beaten up showed up at his door. Deputy Corey Bagley said the woman and her sister had a physical confrontation. Police took statements from both women and forwarded them to the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office for review.
The Hancock Grammar School Friday asked deputies to check on the well-being of a child who had been absent without any communication from a parent or guardian. Deputy Luke Gross said the family has moved out of state.
A Sullivan woman and her child escaped serious injury after a sport utility vehicle left the roadway, jumped a driveway and landed before rolling onto its roof on Route 1 in Gouldsboro Sunday, Deputy Corey Bagley reported.
Laurissa Faulkingham, 35, was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer, which was a total loss, Bagley said.
Faulkingham had neck pain and her daughter, Kason, 6, had chest pain but neither was seriously injured, Bagley said.
A car rear-ended another car whose driver had stopped after getting blinded by the sun in the travel lane of the Ellsworth Road in Blue Hill Nov. 14, Lt. Tim Cote reported.
Marjorie S. Martin, 76, of Blue Hill was westbound in a 2016 Subaru when she was blinded by the sunlight, Cote said. Martin stopped in the travel lane and put on her emergency flashing lights, the officer said.
The Subaru was rear-ended by a 2006 Ford operated by Philip Reynard, 68, of Bridgton, who was unable to see that the Subaru had stopped in the roadway, Cote said.
Both vehicles sustained reportable amounts of damage, Cote said. Peninsula Ambulance treated both Martin and Reynard at the scene.
A Lamoine woman reported harassing text messages from her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend Friday. Cote advised all three to not have further contact with each other.
