Gun found in McDonald’s bathroom was not loaded

ELLSWORTH — A pistol found in a McDonald’s bathroom on Feb. 16 was not loaded, said Ellsworth Police Capt. Troy Bires.

Police were called to the restaurant after an employee came across the gun lying on a toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom, Bires said.

Officers were able to contact the owner but did not return the gun, Bires said, as they are working with the District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges should be filed.
