Gouldsboro Woman Charged with OUI After Crash



ELLSWORTH — A Gouldsboro woman is facing a drunk driving charge as the result of a single-vehicle accident Friday in Lamoine.

Police said Catherine Ryan, 51, was southbound on the Mud Creek Road around 11 a.m. when she reportedly swerved the 2002 Honda she was driving to avoid a deer on the road. Ryan overcorrected and the vehicle left the road, hit a tree and flipped over, coming to rest on top of some mailboxes.

Ryan was issued a summons charging her with operating while under the influence. The Honda sustained $3,500 in damage.

Accidents

A 2007 Chevrolet van sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage Sunday after the driver, Abner Sadler, 49, of Surry struck a deer on Route 1 in Orland.

Another car-deer accident in Orland occurred Nov. 3 on Route 175.

Patrick Gallagher, 21, of Bryant Pond was southbound when he struck the deer. His 1996 Subaru is considered a total loss.

Black ice is listed as the cause of an Oct. 31 accident on North Main Street in Stonington.

Jennifer Steele, 45, of Deer Isle lost control of the 2005 Ford SUV she was driving due to black ice on the roadway, sending the vehicle off the road and into a tree and garage. Steele was not injured. The Ford is considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported in a Nov. 1 rear-end collision on Route 1 in Hancock.

Police said Michelle Burns, 23, of Franklin failed to stop for a dump truck that was waiting to make a left-hand turn. Her 2007 Chevrolet struck the back of the truck, causing about $3,000 in damage. The 2000 Sterling truck, driven by Eric Bunker, 37, of Franklin was not damaged.

Alcohol Enforcement Team

Two people are facing charges stemming from a Halloween night enforcement action in Bucksport, Orland and Castine by the Hancock County Alcohol Enforcement Team.

Cody Laberge, 18, of Windham was issued a summons charging him with illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor. Another man, Nicholas Betti, 21, of Upper Saddle River, N.J., was summoned on a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to Deputy Chris Thornton, Betti allegedly purchased alcohol for Laberge, who planned to consume it with friends at a party at Husson University in Bangor.

Criminal Trespass

Kenneth Weeks, 59, of Blue Hill was summoned Sunday on a charge of criminal trespass after the Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from another Blue Hill resident.

Arrest

Travis Bisson, 20, of Prospect Harbor was arrested Friday on an Ellsworth District Court warrant charging him with failure to appear.

Surrenders

Martin Waddell, 31, of Franklin turned himself in to deputies Nov. 3 on two outstanding arrest warrants.

Alicia Tenney, 23, of Sullivan turned herself in to deputies Nov. 2 on an outstanding warrant for unpaid fines.

Facebook Discovery

A Castine resident reported Nov. 2 that she had discovered on Facebook that someone was making plans to damage her property.
