Franklin woman charged with theft of tip jar

ELLSWORTH — Video footage and a credit card purchase led police to a woman from Franklin who they say stole a tip jar and its contents from a pizza shop last week.

Christine Boyd-Waxer, 45, has been charged with class E theft after she allegedly stole the tip jar from the take-out counter at Pat’s Pizza Jan. 30.

The jar and its contents were valued at $25. Detective Dotty Small said Boyd-Waxer was a customer, and that video footage helped identify the woman as the alleged culprit.

Small said Boyd-Waxer also made a purchase with her credit card, which helped police show she was there when the jar was taken.

Boyd-Waxer is due in court on March 19.
