Four Facing Alcohol Charges Following Traffic Stop

ELLSWORTH — Two teenage girls and two men in their twenties are facing alcohol-related charges after a recent traffic stop conducted during an underage alcohol enforcement detail.

Police stopped a vehicle on Bucksport Road on the night of Nov. 30 with four people inside it.

Three of the occupants were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor (by consumption) — a 17-year-old girl from Mariaville, as well as 19-year-old Kristen Taylor of Surry and 20-year-old Garrett Preston of Machias.

Preston was also arrested, as he was additionally charged with failure to give his correct name and date of birth to police.

The registered owner of the vehicle, 24-year-old Brandon Atwood of Ellsworth, was arrested on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol.
