Five vehicles collide on icy roads

GOULDSBORO — Route 1 in Gouldsboro was closed for several hours Dec. 2 after icy road conditions led to a chain-reaction crash.

Gouldsboro Police Chief John Shively said shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, a vehicle operated by Taylor Wood, 23, of Machiasport slid off Route 1 and into a guardrail near the intersection of Chicken Mill Road.

A Maine Department of Transportation plow truck operated by Jackie Foss, 62, of Gouldsboro struck Wood’s vehicle and, then, a third vehicle, operated by Annette Reynolds, 49, of Milbridge, struck the plow truck, Shively said.

While Shively was at the scene, another vehicle, operated by Amilcar Llaurador, 41, of Gouldsboro, struck the back of the police cruiser, damaging the tailgate and bumper.

There were no injuries. Only Wood’s vehicle needed to be towed. The others were drivable.

Maine State Police assisted at the scene, as did the Gouldsboro and Steuben fire departments.
