Epithets Prompt Ride to Jail

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A woman who police had earlier warned not to return to an apartment on Clark Point Road was arrested early Saturday for doing just that.

Diane Perko, 53, who is a transient, was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass.

Police responded to the apartment shortly after midnight after the tenant reported there was a woman pounding on his door. Officer Bryan Dow arrived to find Perko, whom he had reportedly warned to stay away from the tenant earlier in the month. Perko claimed she was there because the tenant had a jacket that belonged to her, police said.

Officer Dow instructed Perko to move away from the apartment door and wait while he issued her a summons. While the officer was writing the ticket, Perko reportedly went back to the apartment and began shouting epithets at the man inside. At that point, she was arrested and taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth.
