Ellsworth Police: Vehicles Collide on Route 172

ELLSWORTH — The driver of a sport utility vehicle turning left from Court Street onto Route 172 Monday failed to yield the right of way and struck a van, police said.

Joseph Wright, 49, of Ellsworth was driving a 2003 Toyota SUV, which struck a 2003 Chevrolet van operated by Jennifer Achorn, 38, of Sedgwick, police said.

Police estimated $5,000 in damage to each vehicle.

Two cars collided as one driver pulled out of a driveway onto the Surry Road Saturday and didn’t see the other approaching, police said.

Howard Clement, 83, of Ellsworth was driving a 2011 Subaru, which collided with a 2000 Subaru operated by Shannon Greatorex, 32, of Dedham, police reported.

Police estimated $9,500 in damage to Clement’s Subaru and $7,500 for the other car.
