Ellsworth Police Log Week of Sept. 6

ELLSWORTH — Thefts kept officers busy in the past week.

A business reported a theft on Sunday. Officer Steve Mahon is investigating.

On Sunday, police arrested Jonathan Garland, 45, of Ellsworth on one count each of burglary and theft. The charges stem from a July incident.

On Aug. 28, officers issued a summons to a 16-year-old boy from Ellsworth who reportedly took a bottle of alcohol from Hannaford without paying, according to a police report of the incident.

Police responded to a report of domestic violence on the Boggy Brook Road on Aug. 30. Officers found that “no assault had taken place, just a lot of arguing,” according to a report, but issued a summons on a charge of theft to 33-year-old Ryan Flannery after he reportedly refused to give the woman he was arguing with her phone back.

Suspicious

A report of gunshots Sunday turned out to be a neighbor setting off fireworks, Officer Jeffrey Hall reported.

Trespassing

Sgt. Shawn Willey escorted a couple of people trespassing at a local motel Sunday.

“The motel kicked them out this morning because of damage done to the room,” Willey said.

Citizen assist

Officers failed to locate a woman who was reportedly “screaming obscenities” at her young daughter on High Street on Aug. 31, according to a police report of the incident.

Summonses

Robert Driscoll, 28, of Gouldsboro was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant following a crash on Aug. 27.

Officers issued a summons to a 15-year-old boy from Beaumont, Texas, after an investigation found that one of the operators did not have a license and the vehicle was not registered or insured, according to a police report of the incident.

The boy was stopped on Aug. 26.

Police arrested Jamie Sinclair-Crawford, 41, of Hancock on a charge of assault Saturday after an incident at a local bar.

A speed enforcement detail in cooperation with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office yielded one summons for criminal speed.
