Ellsworth Police Log Week of Sept. 3



ELLSWORTH — Police arrested a 37-year-old Ellsworth woman on Aug. 27 for allegedly failing to comply with the sex offender registration act after police were notified by state staff. Amanda J. Lanigan was charged with failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act of 1999, Class B.

Hospital calls

Officers assisted staff from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services with removing an infant from Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital on Aug. 31.

Police removed a man from Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital on Aug. 30.

Officers were called to the hospital to help staff remove a person who had been discharged on Aug. 29.

Talk with car resident

Police spoke with a woman on Aug. 26 who had reportedly been living out of her car on city property “for some time.” She told officers her vehicle was inoperable but agreed to have it towed from the lot.

Citizen assists

A man reportedly wearing dark clothing and walking on Main Street near Woodbine Cemetery “yelling and crying” on Aug. 26 was gone by the time police arrived.

A man lying by the side of the road on Aug. 29 was found to be “extremely intoxicated” and was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Arrests

Robert Davis, 50, of Ellsworth was arrested on Aug. 30 on a charge of violating conditions of release.

Sherman Merchant III, 35, of Otis was arrested on Aug. 29 on a charge of violating conditions of release.

Stephanie Castro, 25, of Orlando, Fla., was stopped for speeding on Aug. 26 on Route 1 and subsequently arrested on a warrant for alleged failure to appear and operating without a license. Castro also was issued a vehicular summons for allegedly traveling 80 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 1A.

Dana Myrick, 31, of Milbridge was arrested on Aug. 23 on a charge of operating after suspension and on a warrant for failure to appear.

Summonses

Jamie Brown, 40, of Hancock was summoned on Aug. 20 on charges of violating conditions of release and theft.

Kaitlyn Salisbury, 28, of Winterport was charged with theft after an incident on Aug. 31.

Thefts and other losses

On Aug. 31, a resident reported a “scam involving fraudulent checks” to police. The person just wanted the incident documented.

Jessica L. Kardos, 33, of Blue Hill was summoned on a theft charge on Aug. 28 after reportedly stealing groceries from Walmart.

Traffic violations

The following residents were summoned for alleged traffic violations:

Mackenzie R. Tucker, 26, of Lamoine, failure to stop at a stop sign on Aug. 18 on Church Street.

William Kerley, 43, of Hulls Cove, speeding 34 mph in a 25-mph zone on High Street on Aug. 28.

Gaurav Sintia, 37, of Jersey City, N.J., speeding 59 mph in a 50-mph zone on State Street on Aug. 26.

Zehara Weinberg, 21, of Woodmere, N.Y., speeding 59 mph in a 30-mph zone on State Street on Aug. 26.

DeShawn Scott, 23, of Steuben, speeding 80 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 1A on Aug. 26.
