ELLSWORTH — Two Ellsworth residents were summoned on theft charges on Sept. 11 after police received a report from Walmart regarding $390 worth of stolen merchandise, according to a report. Summoned were Jade Giger, 33, and Michael Stevens, 29.
Police were called to Walmart on Sept. 21 around 8:30 p.m. for a report that a 76-year-old woman had passed away. Officers are looking into the incident.
Officers aid hospital staff
Police were called to the emergency department at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital on Sept. 15 for a patient who was reportedly “out of control.” Officers stood by until the woman was calm and cooperative. Police were called to the hospital again on Sept. 17 for another unruly patient; in that case, police “took control of the situation and the patient left the hospital.” They were called to the hospital again the next day for a similar situation, but the patient had calmed down by the time the police arrived.
Kevin McGinley, 33, of East Machias was arrested after a traffic stop on Sept. 19 on charges of possession of a Schedule W drug, operating under the influence and violation of bail. McGinley also was summoned on charges of OUI and driving to endanger after a motor vehicle complaint came in on Sept. 18.
Alfred C. Lanpher, 51, of Mount Desert was transported to Hancock County Jail on Sept. 15 at the request of a probation officer. Lanpher also was summoned on a theft charge after a complaint from a local business reported on Sept. 6.
Brain Enright, 38, of Seal Cove was arrested on Sept. 19 on a warrant for failure to appear. Enright also was charged with theft as a result of a shoplifting complaint.
Lyle Crosby, 26, of Sullivan and Ryan Gerrish, 30, of Winter Harbor were charged with disorderly conduct after an incident at a local bar on Sept. 18.
Alicia Kane, 31, of Lamoine was summoned on charges of failure to stop, remain and provide information and failure to make an oral or written accident report after a crash at a local gas station. There were no injuries in the crash.
Shawn McKechnie, 22, of Surry was charged with OUI after a crash on Sept. 17, according to a police report.

Nigel Gayle, 35, of Bar Harbor was summoned on a theft charge Sept. 12 after reportedly taking $5 worth of merchandise from the Maine Smoke Shop.
Paul B. Vergara, 27, of Massachusetts was summoned on a theft charge after an incident at Marden’s on Sept. 20.
Blaine Langworth, 37, of Trenton was summoned on a theft charge after an incident at a local business on Sept. 20.
Cameron Clough, 24, of Tremont, registration expired for between 30 and 150 days following a traffic stop on High Street on Sept. 21.
Brian Rooney, 45, of Brooksville, speeding 39 mph in a 30-mph zone on Main Street on Sept. 17.
Zachary Carter, 21, of Brooksville, failure to provide valid proof of insurance following a traffic stop on the Bucksport Road on Sept. 17.
Kirsten Baker, 47, of Franklin, speeding 34 mph in a 25-mph zone on High Street on Sept. 16.
Jacob Wilson, 22, of Orono, failure to provide valid proof of insurance following a traffic stop on High Street on Sept. 16.
