Ellsworth Police Log Week of Sept. 13



ELLSWORTH — An Ellsworth man was arrested after allegedly punching and kicking his girlfriend during an argument on Sept. 7, according to a report of the incident.

The woman reported the abuse to police two days later, at which point officers observed that she had “a wound on her right eye in the process of scabbing over,” according to a report.

As a result of an investigation, officers arrested Jeremy Fowler, 41, of Ellsworth on a charge of domestic violence assault.

Officers respond to suicide

Police responded to a suicide at a local residence on Sept. 9 in which a 50-year-old man, whose name was not released, reportedly shot himself.

Mothers reported to police

Officers received a report of a mother at Walmart on Sept. 6 who was “yelling and hitting her 2-year-old child,” according to a report. Police responded and found that the child had “hit the mother in the face, knocking her glasses off, so she screamed at him as a result.”

That same day, officers received a report of a woman who “appeared to be under the influence with her kids in the vehicle.” Police spoke to the woman and determined she “was not impaired and did not appear to be under the influence.”

Residents hospitalized

Police transported a 17-year-old Ellsworth boy to the hospital with a possible broken hand after he reportedly punched a cement wall six times on Sept. 10.

That same day, in a separate incident, officers checked on a woman who had reportedly broken a needle off in her arm. Capital Ambulance brought the woman to the hospital.

Suspicious resident?

A report of a suspicious person in the Cards Court area on Sept. 6 turned out to be a resident asking a neighbor “if they needed any help.”

Woman misses dialysis

Officers were unable to make contact with a woman on Sept. 7 who has reportedly missed her dialysis appointments since the first of the month. Although police did not speak with the woman, a neighbor told officers he had seen her walking around the apartment complex where she lives the previous evening.

“Gunshots” were fireworks

Officers responded to a report of a resident shooting a gun on Sept. 2 at a residence on the Bucksport Road. The sounds turned out to be “a neighbor shooting off fireworks.”

Officers failed to locate the source of another report of gunshots on Sept. 6 on the Winkumpaugh Road.

Police give hitchhiker a ride

Officers gave a ride to an elderly man with a walker who was hitchhiking to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on Sept. 9 and arranged for his transportation home after as well.

Arrests

Police arrested transient Mustafa Al Shuwaili, 25, on a charge of violating a protection order on Sept. 4.

Kenneth MacLean, 26, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant following a traffic stop on Aug. 30.

Loretta Mosher, 43, of Searsport was arrested on Sept. 4 and summoned for an alleged bail violation.

Jacob Cyr, 29, of Hancock was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and operating after suspension following a traffic stop on Sept. 7.

Summonses

Tina Gilbert, 46, of Hancock was summoned on Sept. 4 on a charge of attaching false plates.

Kimberly Ratsakongsy-Perzanowski, 28, of Hampden was summoned on a charge of operating after suspension after she was reportedly driving erratically on Sept. 9.

Thefts and other losses

A local business reported the theft of a blueberry-shaped plywood sign on Sept. 4.

A woman told police on Sept. 3 that she had been “scammed out of money,” according to a police report.

On Sept. 5, a resident reported to police that his landlord had stolen his prescription Suboxone, according to a report. Officers are investigating.

Police are investigating a report on Sept. 7 of a counterfeit $20 bill used in a transaction at a local convenience store.

Meile Rockefeller, 62, of New York, N.Y., 54 mph in a 40-mph-zone on the Bayside Road on Sept. 7.

Thomas Gross, 71, of Indianapolis, Ind., 34 mph in a 25-mph-zone on North Street on Sept. 7.

Holly Lutz, 58, of Bucksport, 34 mph in a 25-mph-zone on North Street on Sept. 7.

Lisa Vasquez, 34, of Trenton was issued a ticket for alleged improper passing on Route 1A on Sept. 3.

Veerle Van Der Vekens, 47, of Penobscot, 34 mph in a 25-mph-zone on Route 1 on Sept. 4.

Charles Chafee, 74, of Bryn Mawr, Pa., 34 mph in a 25-mph-zone on Route 1 on Sept. 4.

Felicia Sargent, 31, of Milbridge, 65 mph in a 55-mph-zone on Route 1A on Aug. 31.

Carl Runga, 66, of Methuen, Mass., 65 mph in a 55-mph-zone on Route 1A on Aug. 31.

Carl McCue, 71, of Hampden, 65 mph in a 55-mph-zone on Route 1A on Aug. 31.

Traffic violations

Sheri Severance, 59, of Orrington was summoned on charges of operating after suspension and failure to pay a fine following a traffic stop on Route 1A on Aug. 30.

Sarah Leiter, 32, of Rockland was summoned on a charge of failing to provide proof of inspection following a traffic stop on Route 1A on Sept. 2.
