Ellsworth Police Log Week of Sept. 10



ELLSWORTH — A 74-year-old Sullivan man was charged with assault on an emergency medical care provider after a “physical altercation” at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital on Sept. 1 around 11:40 p.m. Michael Thompson was charged after police were called to the hospital for a “disorderly patient,” according to a report. Police also were called to assist hospital staff with an unruly patient the following day, Sept. 2. No charges were filed in that incident.

Police impersonator

A local business owner reported on Sept. 2 that someone had called the business claiming to be an Ellsworth police officer “asking questions about employees and the amount of money in the cash register.” Officers are investigating.

Domestic incidents

Brianna Smith, 29, of Ellsworth was charged with refusing to submit to arrest and domestic violence assault after an incident on Sept. 4. Smith was arrested again on Sept. 7 on a charge of violating conditions of release.

On Sept. 5, police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at a local residence. The altercation was over by the time they arrived and turned out to be two men having a “minor argument,” according to a report. No charges were filed.

Unattended child, intoxicated person

Officers spoke with the parent of a 1-year-old child on Sept. 5 after the child was found unattended in a running vehicle with the windows up.

Police asked an intoxicated person to move on Sept. 5 after a resident called to report “someone laying in the grass half naked,” according to a report.

Unattended death

Officers were called to the unattended death of a man at a residence on Daisy Way on Sept. 3.

Arrests

Edward Murphy, 55, of Ellsworth was arrested on Sept. 2 and charged with criminal trespass after a resident told police Murphy refused to leave the resident’s property.

Brent Cunningham, 42, no town given, was arrested on Sept. 5 on charges of theft and violating his bail conditions after a reported shoplifting incident at Marden’s.

Jeffrey Brown, 50, of Ellsworth was arrested on Sept. 7 on an active warrant for failure to appear.

Richard Sharp, 26, of Ellsworth was arrested on Sept. 5 on two outstanding warrants.

Jillian Chapman, 31, of Ellsworth was arrested on Sept. 4 on a warrant out of Penobscot County.

Samantha Polchies, 31, of Sullivan was arrested on Sept. 3 on a charge of violating conditions of release.

Levi Quinlan, 39, of Ellsworth was arrested on Sept. 1 on a warrant out of Penobscot County.

Michael Paola, 53, of Hancock was arrested on Sept. 1 on a warrant.

Summonses

Kenneth Gray, 52, of Hancock was summoned on Aug. 29 on a charge of violating conditions of release.

Shelby Tapley, 25, of Waldo was summoned on charges of violation of bail and possession of a Schedule Z drug on Sept. 4.

Corey Bedard, 24, of Newport was summoned on Sept. 2 after a traffic stop for reportedly operating after suspension.

Juan C. Duarte, 58, of Florida was summoned on an assault charge on Sept. 1.

Thefts and other losses

Benjamin W. Deane, 40, of Brewer was summoned on a charge of theft of service Sept. 3 after reportedly failing to pay a bill at a local business.

Police are looking into a report of a possible burglary on Lakes Lane that was called in on Sept. 7.

Viktor V. Popov, 42, of New Jersey was charged with theft on Sept. 1 after a shoplifting incident at Marden’s.

Troy Lemay, 18, of Hingham, Mass., speeding 74 mph in a 55-mph zone on the Bangor Road on Sept. 7.

Amanda Newman, 43, of Tempe, Ariz., speeding 74 mph in a 55-mph-zone on the Bangor Road on Sept. 7.

Jay Dalal, 26, of Jersey City, N.J., speeding 39 mph in a 30-mph zone on State Street on Sept. 7.

Neal Chan, 28, of Diamond Bar, Calif., speeding 34 mph in a 25-mph zone on High Street on Sept. 7.

Shane Fickett, 32, of San Jacinto, Calif., failure to provide valid proof of inspection following a traffic stop on Washington Street on Sept. 6.

Reece Khan, 22, of Ellsworth, failure to register vehicle for between 30 and 150 days following a traffic stop on the Bucksport Road on Sept. 6.

Benjamin Holt, 29, of Millinocket, operating after suspension and failure to provide valid proof of insurance following a traffic stop on the Bangor Road on Sept. 5.

Lori Cookson, 54, of Burnham, speeding 64 mph in a 55-mph zone on the Bangor Road on Sept. 5.

Tammy Shelton, 52, of Ellsworth, failure to provide valid proof of insurance following a traffic stop on Myrick Street on Sept. 2.
