ELLSWORTH — Police charged two 18-year-old men in connection with vandalism to political signs at an Ellsworth residence and, after further investigation, for vandalized and stolen signs in Lamoine, Trenton and Surry. The signs were reported as vandalized on Oct. 3.
Nicklas E. Steinbarger, 18, and Oliver E. Wilson, 18, both of Blue Hill, were each charged with six counts of criminal mischief, two counts of theft and seven counts of unlawful removal of temporary signs. They are scheduled to appear in Ellsworth District Court on Nov. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Police located a group of intoxicated people who were then summoned on underage drinking charges on Oct. 15.
Nicole Fronczak, 19, of Lamoine was arrested on charges of furnishing a place for minors to drink alcohol and possession of liquor by a minor.
Also summoned on charges of illegal possession of liquor by a minor were Madison Worcester, 19, of Ellsworth, Jordan Smart, 19, of Ellsworth, Juliana Burgos, 20, of Manchester, Conn., and Isaiah Lawley, 20, of Ellsworth. Lawley also was charged with violation of bail conditions.
Officers were called to Ellsworth High School for a report of two youths in possession of marijuana on Oct. 18. The incident remains under investigation.
Police responded to a local business’s parking lot for a report of a road rage incident on Oct. 19. Both parties received warnings and were told to “go their separate ways.”
Police responded to Riverview Apartments for a report of a domestic incident on Oct. 19 and found a verbal disagreement between family members. No charges were filed.
Police received a “late” complaint of a domestic assault Oct. 14. After investigation, Dale Johnson, 27, of Ellsworth was charged with domestic violence assault and aggravated assault.
Arrests and summonses
Alexis Perez Acevedo, 34, was arrested on a drug trafficking warrant on Oct. 19.
Christopher Castagna-Houck, 32, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of domestic violence criminal threatening on Oct. 13.
Devin Cossette, 23, was charged with theft of $19 worth of merchandise from Marden’s on Oct. 17.
Nicole Green, 32, of Ellsworth was summoned on a charge of operating after suspension on Oct. 19.
Alexandra Harris, 35, was charged with operating a defective motor vehicle following a crash due to inadequate tires on Oct. 17.
Brooks Kenney, 36, of Bangor was arrested on a warrant and on a charge of failure to appear in court and was also summoned on a charge of operating after suspension on Oct. 19.
Brennan Spofford, 41, of Tremont was charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention and arrested on a probation hold following an incident at a local hotel on Oct. 15.
Bear cub flees
Police assisted the Warden Service with an attempt to locate a bear cub on Oct. 16, but the cub had run off into the woods.
Police on Oct. 16 warned a man to stay away from his ex-girlfriend’s place of business and have no contact with her.
During a traffic stop, police discovered the driver had an active warrant for failure to appear in court. However, she was not arrested, as her disabled elderly husband was a passenger and she was his sole caretaker.
