Ellsworth Police Log Week of June 21



ELLSWORTH — A local man was arrested on June 16 after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a downtown bar around 11 p.m.

Police said 48-year-old Ellsworth resident Thomas Cole was “extremely intoxicated” and had been removed from the bar but had returned and began assaulting a woman.

“Her boyfriend took exception to that,” said Police Chief Glenn Moshier, and allegedly punched Cole. Police arrived and arrested Cole on a charge of violation of probation, as he was not supposed to be drinking, and issued him a summons charging him with assault.

Man cleaning rifle not a threat

Officers spoke to a man sitting on the side of the road on Grant Street on June 12 who was working on an old rifle and drinking beer, according to a police report of the incident.

“The individual displayed no signs of being a threat to himself or others,” officers wrote.

Blood on the deck

Police were called to a residence off the Surry Road after a citizen found blood on the back deck of the residence on June 15, according to a report of the incident.

Officers investigated and determined that the blood most likely came from an animal.

Arrests

Edward Purdy, 42, of Bangor was arrested on charges of theft and refusing to submit to arrest following an incident at Walmart on June 13 in which Purdy allegedly took a can of Twisted Tea valued at $2.92.

Alice French, 51, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of violation of a protection order on June 14 after she allegedly had contact with the protected party during an event.

Summons

Jeremiah Dorval, 43, of Southwest Harbor was charged with driving to endanger after a crash on the Bangor Road on June 15.

Thefts and other losses

On June 13, staff at Marden’s reported a person “doing false returns,” according to a police report of the incident. The loss is valued at $59.40. Police are investigating.

On June 20, a woman forgot $100 cash back at Walmart only to return and find it had been taken. Video footage showed a man taking the money, according to a police report.

As a result of an investigation, Bradley Peabody, 35, of Addison was charged with theft.

Officers conducted several speeding details this past week.

Ashley Kennedy, 28, of Southwest Harbor, 81 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Jason Chapman, 34, of Lamoine, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Sheri-Lynne Severance, 59, of Orrington, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Kyle Knowles, 26, of Gouldsboro, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Sophia Marie Haynes, 20, of Spring Valley, Calif., 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Jeffrey Balicki, 43, of Jonesport, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Robert Banks, 60, of Dallas, Texas, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Bradley Madeira, 40, of Ellsworth, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Barbara Kelly, 69, of Cumberland Center, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Paige Scott, 17, of Franklin, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Patricia Johnson, 58, of Ellsworth, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Brent Adder, 68, of Ellsworth, 71 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Emiliano Kaptain, 25, of Del Rio, Texas, 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Gregory Brenemad, 30, of Mount Joy, Pa., 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

Robert Mays, 79, of Merritt Island, Fla., 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone.

The following motorists were also issued summonses for traffic violations in the past week:

Evan Willey-VanDorn, 22, of Ellsworth was issued a summons charging him with failure to display a valid inspection sticker following a traffic stop on the Downeast Highway on June 12.

Alexander James, 25, of Bay Saint Louis, Miss., was summoned a speeding charge for traveling 75 mph in a 55-mph-zone on Route 1 on June 13.

Patrick Spencer, 18, of Hancock was summoned on a charge of failure to display a valid inspection sticker following a traffic stop on Water Street on June 15.

Michael Daigle, 54, of Bangor was summoned on a speeding charge for traveling 74 mph in a 55-mph-zone on Route 1A on June 16.

Jessica Correale, 22, of Bangor was summoned on a speeding charge for traveling 69 mph in a 55-mph-zone, no route or date given.
