Ellsworth Police Log Week of Aug. 16



ELLSWORTH — A mother and daughter were arrested on domestic assault charges on Aug. 9, after the two reportedly got into an argument over $300.

Police said Tamara Strout, 48, reportedly lent her daughter, 24-year-old Mariah Ryan, the money.

Ryan called police to the Ellsworth residence and claimed that her mother had pushed her into the kitchen counter and threatened to kill her, according to a police report.

Strout claimed her daughter shut the door on her arm. The women were both arrested and charged with domestic assault. Strout also was charged with criminal threatening.

Christopher Whynott, 25, of Ellsworth was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and criminal threatening following an incident on Aug. 11 around 6 p.m. at a residence on East Main Street.

Ralph E. Bernauer Jr., 48, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of domestic violence terrorizing after he allegedly threatened to kill his partner on Aug. 10.

Summonses

Benjamin Berry, 19, of Bangor was charged with marijuana possession by a person under 21 years of age following a traffic stop on Aug. 11.

Possession of marijuana for recreational purposes is illegal for anyone under 21 in Maine punishable by fines of between $350 and $1,000 for up to 2.5 ounces.

Transient Jonathan Ingersoll, 47, was issued a summons charging him with assault following an incident on Aug. 9.

Thefts and other losses

On Aug. 8, officers received a report from a man who said his firearm was stolen five months ago while he was at a local business. Police are investigating.

Officers received a report of a theft of keys on Aug. 8. The woman later called to say she had left them at Walmart.

Traffic violations

Ernest Bishop, 34, of Franklin was issued a summons charging him with failing to display a valid inspection sticker following a traffic stop on Route 180 on Aug. 7.

Sarah Palmer, 46, of Ellsworth was issued a summons charging her with failing to display a valid inspection sticker following a traffic stop on Route 180 on Aug. 7.

Sheridan Burgess, 56, of Gardner, Mass., was charged with failure to provide proof of insurance following a crash on High Street on Aug. 13.

Speeding tickets

William Costello, 71, of Bronx, N.Y., 45 mph in a 25-mph-zone on High Street on Aug. 12.

Brandon Trafford, 23, of Brimfield, Mass., 39 mph in a 25-mph-zone on High Street on Aug. 11.

Madelyn Symonds, 18, of Bangor, 39 mph in a 25-mph-zone on High Street on Aug. 11.

Thomas Cook, 29, of Stockton Springs, 59 mph in a 40-mph-zone on the Bayside Road on Aug. 14.
