Ellsworth Police Log Week of Nov. 30

ELLSWORTH — Threats and throwing a plant pot that resulted in a woman being injured led to a man’s arrest last week, according to police.

Corey Reynolds, 32, of Ellsworth was arrested Nov. 20 after an incident on the Bangor Road that evening.

Police said Reynolds was intoxicated and threatened to kill multiple people. He allegedly threw a plant pot at a woman and though it missed, it broke and the pieces hit her and scratched her.

That led to Reynolds being charged with domestic violence criminal threatening and domestic violence assault. He also was charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

Not what it seems

On Thanksgiving afternoon, police received a report of what sounded like a domestic dispute behind the Maine Coast Mall. A woman was reportedly screaming at a man.

Police arrived and found that what had apparently happened was that the man “did a karate chop in the air and it scared” the woman. Police said beyond that, the man and woman “denied even being in an argument.”

Slippery roadway leads to smash-up

A Pembroke woman was unhurt Nov. 16 after her car went off the road and into a fence and rocks.

Police said Madeline A. Hilyard, 31, was headed south on the Happytown Road around 5:30 a.m. when she hit a patch of ice and went off the road.

Her 1991 Ford SUV went off the road and collided with a log fence and a rock pile. It had to be towed due to the amount of damage, though Hilyard reported no injuries.

Police said she was likely driving too fast for the conditions at the time.
