Ellsworth Police: Alleged Shoplifter Provides False ID

ELLSWORTH — A man who was allegedly caught shoplifting at a Route 3 store Saturday provided police with false proof of citizenship.

Officer Chris Smith notified U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agency about the man.

Marvin E. Arreaga, 35, of Ellsworth was summoned on charges of theft and violating conditions of his release.

“Arreaga appeared to be in the U.S. illegally and provided fake documents,” Smith said.


Someone either on an all-terrain vehicle or a riding lawnmower ran over a stone on a woman’s grave Oct. 12.


A fatigued motorist escaped without serious injury in a crash on the Bucksport Road Saturday morning, police reported.

The crash occurred when an eastbound car went off the road and onto a lawn, hitting a mailbox before continuing and hitting a utility pole, police said.

Danielle Wescott, 23, of Prospect was driving a 1995 Subaru, which sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage, police said.

The pole is a total loss, police reported.

A westbound car waiting to turn left into Emmaus Center from Main Street Sunday collided with an eastbound pickup truck after an unknown motorist motioned the car to cross both eastbound lanes, police said.

Linda Wilson, 60, of Fletcher’s Landing was driving a 1997 Subaru, which collided with a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Brendon Bouchard, 19, of Ellsworth, police said.

Police estimated $3,000 in damage to the car and $1,200 to the truck.

A car went off the road and hit a tree after its rear tire went slack and the operator lost control on North Street Oct. 14.

Timothy Blackwood, 40, of Mariaville was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile, which sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage, police said.


Someone used a Surry Road resident’s debit card number to order a computer, police said. The total loss is $1,258.95.


The Snack Shack at the track on Forrest Avenue was broken into.

Jay Esprit, 23, Portland, domestic violence assault, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Douglas Pio, 28, Ellsworth, violating conditions of release, warrant failure to appear.

Paula Gusha, 46, Clifton, theft.
