Ellsworth man killed in crash

ELLSWORTH — A 51-year-old Ellsworth man was killed in an early-morning crash on the Winkumpaugh Road on Saturday, according to the Ellsworth Police Department.

Emergency crews were called to the crash just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, where they found that a 2007 Volvo sport utility vehicle had hit an embankment after leaving the road while heading west.

The driver, Mark Webber, was alone in the SUV and was thrown from the vehicle. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt and died of his injuries at the scene. Ellsworth fire and police department crews responded to the crash, which police are working to reconstruct.
