Ellsworth Boy Allegedly Dislocates Mother’s Jaw

ELLSWORTH — A 14-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly punching his mother after she broke up a fight Monday between him and his sister over a digital music player, police said.

Police said Wednesday the boy was being held at the Mountain View Correctional Center in Charleston pending arraignment in Ellsworth District Court.

Lt. Harold Page of the Ellsworth Police Department said the mother was treated at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for a dislocated jaw and was released.

“The brother and sister got into an argument, the mother went in to break it up, took the device away, the kid got mad and assaulted her,” Page said.

Police said the incident was reported to police by a female friend of the mother’s who was at the house on Gary Moore Road at the time and witnessed the alleged assault.

Page said the youth ran out of the house into the woods and was found by police using tracking dogs.

He said the teen did not resist arrest.
