Driver indicted on assault, OUI charges



ELLSWORTH — A Tremont man accused of driving while under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of an accident was among the 15 people indicted last week by a Hancock County grand jury.

Leon Jacobs, 38, was indicted Oct. 6 on single counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, operating under the influence, operating after suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.

On April 27, Mr. Jacobs’ car allegedly crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Route 102 and the Knox Road in Town Hill. He then continued driving north before turning into a nearby dead-end road. Mr. Jacobs abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. He later was found near EBS Building Supply, arrested and taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth.

Also indicted Oct. 6 was a Winter Harbor driver who allegedly refused to cooperate with police during an Aug. 22 traffic stop in Bar Harbor.

Derek Johnson, 29, was indicted on single counts of aggravated operating after revocation, operating while under the influence (OUI), violating the conditions of his release, failure to sign a summons and failure to give his correct name.

Norman Bubb, 41, of Mount Desert was indicted on single counts of OUI and operating beyond license restrictions for an Aug. 5 traffic stop in Bar Harbor.

Also indicted Oct. 6 was Kristen Rogde, 45, of Ellsworth. Ms. Rogde was indicted on one count of theft by unauthorized taking for a Sept. 30 incident in Trenton.
