ELLSWORTH — Wednesday’s heavy rainfall led to a pair of accidents due to hydroplaning, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A car hydroplaned off Blackwoods Road in Franklin due to the amount of water on the roadway, Deputy Luke Gross reported.
Isaac Bunker, 27, of Cherryfield was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, which sustained minor damage to its rear bumper, Gross said. Bunker was not injured.
A pickup truck, traveling faster than the posted speed limit, hydroplaned and went into an oncoming lane before overcorrecting, going into a ditch and rolling on its side on Castine Road in Castine, Deputy Travis Frost reported.
Edward Kinsman, 24, of Scarborough was operating a 2005 Ford F350 pickup, Frost said.
Dave’s Towing was able to tip the truck back on its wheels and Kinsman was able to continue to his destination, the deputy said.
The Castine Fire Department and Peninsula Ambulance assisted at the scene, Frost said.
