Crash on Surry Road damages pole, wires

ELLSWORTH—A crash on the Surry Road in the early morning hours of July 8 took down a telephone pole and several wires and resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old Blue Hill resident, according to a police report of the incident.

Alexander Humphreys was arrested for allegedly operating under the influence and violation of bail conditions.

According to the police report, Humphreys was heading west on the Surry Road when the car he was operating “left the roadway to the right,” striking a utility police and re-entering the roadway.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage. Humphreys reported possible injuries but refused transport to the hospital. County Ambulance responded along with Emera Maine and the Ellsworth Fire Department to deal with the damaged wires and pole.
