Candy bag black eye prompts arrest

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A 30-year-old Southwest Harbor woman whose boyfriend reportedly told police she “freaked out” and began throwing things at him was arrested Friday on an assault charge.

During the melee, the boyfriend allegedly was hit in the eye with a bag of candy that had been hurled at him. He left the apartment and, while standing outside, watched as the woman began tossing his possessions out a window, according to the report by Officer Bryan Dow. At one point, she reportedly threw a $300 television set onto the ground.

As a result, Stacy Elliott was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge and taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth. She later was released on bail.
