Bucksport Police: Two Injured in Fiery Bucksport Crash

BUCKSPORT — Two people were injured July 2 when the sports car they were traveling in flipped and burst into flames on Bucksmills Road.

According to police, John Frankland, 20, of Orrington was the driver of the crashed 2005 Lotus Elise. The vehicle was totaled in the accident.

Frankland and a passenger were able to escape from the car and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.


Police are investigating a report that someone broke into a residence at Knox View Apartments and left a threatening note July 1.

Criminal Trespass

A local man was charged with criminal trespass in two separate incidents last week.

Rory Mullen, 25, of Bucksport was summoned on charges of criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia after police received a report of someone at the town pool shortly before midnight June 29.

Police said Mullen had apparently jumped the fence and was found sitting on a bench inside the pool area.

On July 1, Mullen was arrested on a criminal trespass charge after allegedly trespassing on a Main Street property.


A large potted scilla plant was reported stolen from Buck Street July 4.

The plant is between 3 and 4 feet tall and weighs 40 to 50 pounds.

A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle on Harriman Cove Road June 28.

A radio valued at about $200 was stolen from a car parked on Elm Street June 27.

The car sustained about $300 in damage in the theft.


A collision in a Route 1 parking lot July 4 caused about $1,300 in total damage.

Police said Lori Colcord, 39, of Orland backed into a parked 2006 Kia.

A driver reportedly left the scene after damaging a vehicle in the Hannaford parking lot July 3.

Minor damage was reported in a River Road accident July 2.

Involved were Nancy Wood, 63, of Orrington and Norman Prouty, 83, of Palmetto, Fla.

Two cars collided in a Route 1 parking lot June 28.

Police said Cynthia Folsom, 80, of Orland was attempting to remove the keys from her vehicle, when the vehicle rolled into another car.


Someone sprayed a fire extinguisher located at the ice rink July 4.

Vandalism to the waterfront was discovered July 1. Someone knocked over plants and removed dog waste bags from dispensers installed by the town.

A camper was reportedly vandalized on Bucksmills Road June 27.

Estimated damage was $500.

Animal Complaints

Police were notified July 1 of a dog bite that occurred in town.

A Pond Street resident was referred to a local pest control company after he reported a skunk living under his porch June 30.

Hazardous Condition

A concerned citizen reported an adult and two small children riding around a local trailer park on a lawn mower June 29.

An officer told the group to stop.

Speeding Tickets

Roger Eaton, 51, Stonington, summoned for speeding, 54 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone on River Road.
