Bucksport Police Log Week of Sept. 13

BUCKSPORT — The Bucksport Police Department rendered aid to its citizenry this past week.

Officer Chris Woodman helped a motorist whose vehicle had broken down just after 4 a.m. Friday.

Officer Ryan Welch gave a female employee of a downtown business a ride home at midnight Saturday. Welch said the woman was not dressed to be walking in the dark.


Sgt. David Winchester arrested an Ellsworth man Saturday on a Penobscot County warrant charging failure to appear.

Carl Burch, 47, was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.


Welch summoned Jesse Curry, 41, of Searsport on a charge of operating after suspension Saturday.


A resident reported Sept. 6 that someone stole gasoline from his vehicle.


Officer Robert Findlay summoned Sandra Benton, 60, of Dedham on a charge of speeding 30 miles or more over the posted limit on Route 46 Sunday.

Benton was traveling 82 mph in a 45-mph zone, Findlay said.

Officer Gerald Lowe summoned Alyssa Varnum, 18, of Orland on a charge of speeding Saturday.
