Bucksport Police log week of Sept. 12



BUCKSPORT — A resident called police Sept. 1 worried for a woodchuck that was reportedly “not fleeing” despite the presence of loud noises and other animals nearby.

There was no word on the outcome or the woodchuck’s status.

More animal problems

A man called for help Sept. 1 after being attacked by a dog. The dog was no longer at the scene. Bucksport EMS services treated the man’s injuries.

Mental health issue

An ambulance was sent for someone who had attempted suicide on Sept. 1. Officer Ryan Welch responded as well.

Theft

A woman advised police that her mother’s credit card had been stolen Sept. 3.

Warnings

Welch warned a motorist about having studded tires on a vehicle out of season. Studded tires are allowed in Maine from Oct. 1 to May 1.

There was no word on whether the tires were left on from last winter or if the motorist is getting an early start on preparations for the upcoming winter.

Arrests

Sgt. Dave Winchester arrested Corey Gove, 25, of Bucksport on a warrant Saturday.

Summonses

Welch summoned James Winchester, 47, of Bucksport on charges of assault and reckless conduct Friday.

Officer Matt Schmidt summoned Charlene Farnsworth, 27, of Blue Hill on a charge of speeding 44 mph in a 35-mph zone on Sept. 4.
