Man charged with OUI, threatening
BUCKSPORT — Officers Gerald Lowe and Eric Marcel arrested a Bucksport man who allegedly was driving while intoxicated and pointing a loaded firearm at a woman driving in front of him on Central Street Monday afternoon, Deputy Police Chief David Winchester reported.
The woman noticed a vehicle quickly approach hers from behind and realized there was a “red laser dot pointed at her,” Winchester said. Luckily, a police cruiser began approaching from the northbound lane, so the woman flashed her lights and got the officer’s attention.
Lowe and Marcel stopped the vehicle in question. After an investigation, police arrested Evan Seekins, 26, on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger and following too closely.
Winchester said other charges may be pending.
The deputy police chief said there is no connection between Seekins and the motorist. The incident appears to have been random, he said.
Police arrested two Calais residents on April 30.
Jeffrey Croman, 33, and Meagan Sabattus, 36, were each charged with one count of violating conditions of release.
Officer Matt Schmidt arrested Michael Whitney, 40, of Blue Hill on a warrant Friday.
Schmidt summoned Justin Davis, 32, of Bucksport on a charge of operating after suspension Saturday.
