BUCKSPORT — Police charged two men in a road rage incident reported to have occurred on the stretch of Route 1 from Jerry’s Hardware Store to Gold Star Cleaners Saturday.
Officer Eric Marcel summoned David Joyce, 45, of Deer Isle on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
Also summoned was Kyle Roberts, 55, of Orland on a charge of driving to endanger.
Deputy Chief David Winchester said the incident began when Roberts, who had been eastbound, crossed the centerline of Route 1 near the hardware store, allegedly causing Joyce, who was traveling west, to swerve into a breakdown lane.
Joyce then turned around and began following Roberts down Route 1, Winchester said. At some point, Joyce got in front of Roberts and allegedly stopped abruptly, which resulted in a rear-end collision, the deputy chief said.
“A brief confrontation” occurred before police arrived, Winchester said. At that point, the pair had settled down, he said.
Officer Matt Schmidt summoned Erin Abele, 39, of Brewer on a charge of operating after suspension Nov. 27.
Schmidt summoned Tyler Gilbert, 25, of Glenburn on a charge of operating after suspension Sunday.
Marcel summoned Mary Gartley, 34, of Bucksport on a charge of reading while driving Sunday.
