Bucksport fire investigated

BUCKSPORT — The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a blaze that damaged a Town Farm Road residence Monday.

The incident also resulted in arrest of the property owner — but not in connection to the fire itself.

Public Safety Director Sean Geagan said the homeowner “wouldn’t comply with some of our demands and had to be removed.”

Bucksport Police Officer Eze VanBuckley arrested Timothy Jerome, 61, on charges of refusing to submit to arrest and obstructing government administration.

Jerome has since been released from the Hancock County Jail.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Denning estimated $50,000 in damage to the residence.

“There’s a lot of smoke damage,” Denning said. “There’s fire damage to one of the rooms.”

The fire started in an “outbuilding,” the deputy chief said.

Fire departments from Orrington and Orland provided mutual aid. Crews were on scene for about three hours.

No one was injured, Denning said.
